Does the All Talk Acquisition Course pick up where Pimsleur leaves off?
No. The All Talk Acquisition course is a separate course that we believe greatly complements the learning already established through the use of the Pimsleur Courses. The All Talk Acquisition course starts off at a beginners level, but rapidly progresses through intermediate and advanced levels of speaking. You will learn large amounts of vocabulary and additional grammatical instruction throughout the course.
Another difference is that the All Talk Acquisition course follows a storyline format. It's kind of like listening to a TV show. You listen to a plot and also learn a new language. This is one of the great ways that Linguaphone is so effective. The course keeps you entertained by the story while teaching you the language.

Is the All Talk Acquisition Course a beginner's course?
Yes and no. It can be used by beginners as well as seasoned veterans. The course begins at a starting level, but progresses quite quickly. If you're just starting out with learning the language, you'll probably need to repeat much of the lessons initially whereas if you already have some experience, you will probably progress quicker through the initial lessons and then find that you'll be repeating more as you progress.

Is the All Talk Acquisition Course just like Pimsleur but with different vocabulary?
No. The courses are made by two different companies - Pimsleur and Linguaphone. The methodology of Linguaphone varies slightly from Pimsleur, but proves to be very helpful in allowing you to have a better overall learning experience through the use of multiple angles of learning the language. The Pimsleur lessons generally play a conversation and then you learn the words and phrases that will enable you to take part in the conversation. Linguaphone also does this, but the conversations that you listen to are part of a bigger plot and storyline.

How many lessons/hours is the All Talk Acquisition course?
With the exception of Chinese Mandarin, the course is 16 hours long. There are 16 lessons each lasting about 1 hour. The lessons, unlike Pimsleur, are broken up into between 30-60 tracks per lesson on the CD (anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes per track) so that you can easily repeat certain segments.
The Chinese Mandarin Course is 8 hours long, with 8 Lessons that are each 1 hour.
